Any word on conditions in the Catskills? I expect that whatever there is, will be thin and early season-ish, but anyone have an idea if it's worth taking a look this weekend?

Well I went up to look around about 10 days ago and there was absolutely nothing. And, given that 3 days ago it was 50 F, I doubt there's been any positive development. But... feel free to go see and let us all know what you find!

stony is open. thin in spots. use caution and ethics as to not run out ice. plenty of options, pick up a guide book. give a shout if you are climbing and need a partner

anyone know what conditions are currently like in the Catskills?

I was considering heading up to Stony Clove West this saturday if the ice holds up and the conditions aren't awful

Looking at the temps and rain right now - not good. I was hoping to head up as well. Temp is about 57 and raining. Any ice is probably becoming delaminated as we speak.

If anyone local sees anything different, would love to know.

This was just posted on Facebook (not my post):

"took a drive and a hike through the catskill's today. the ice pretty much got destroyed for most folks liking. i would stay away for a few days to let things dry out and rebound back to the earth. if you decide to forgo this message good luck and be safe!"

We stopped at Stoney Clove on the way to the Adirondacks. The Playground was a death trap! Everything on the parking lot side was out. East side Crag and another low angle route close by we’re hanging on by a thread.

Considering the Dacks are on the way out today the Catskills must be out.

There was a least one line at the playground by Sunday. A little wet, but not nearly as wet as you'd think.

While driving through the Catskills a surprising amount of ice held on. Things should hopefully rebuild quickly.
