I've taken a few drives through Stoney Clove the past couple of days on my way to ski at Hunter. Nothing even close to being climbable let alone leadable. Cold days and nights are in order to make it happen. seems like that is in the forecast. I'm gonna hedge my bets on climbing thin ice next weekend for the Catskills.

Can confirm. No ice at all up in Hillyer Ravine Dec 8. Ample surface water moving though, and a couple inches of snow above 2000 ft, so that's good. And more snow on the way Sunday night.

What a difference 5 days makes! We led three pitches of mostly WI-fun ice up in Hillyer Ravine today. We placed a lot of screws...some of them may have been worthwhile.
  4. How are the rest of the Catskills looking? Has anyone seen the Darkside, Lower DK, or Platt Clove Ravine?
