Ammonoosuc Ravine, Mt. Washington – Leaf
I climbed the main drainage up the center of Ammonoosuc Ravine today (December 1st). Just before Gem Pool, I left the trail and dipped into the river.
The footing was a bit tricky following the river because it hadn’t entirely froze and I was breaking through the thin ice at places.. but before long I was looking up at a giant icy gully
The Spirit of Adventure, Franconia Notch
Cannon, The Common Thread When most climbers think of the climbing in Franconia Notch, one route immediately comes to the forefront of thought and discussion. Northern Pass: Act now to protect your favorite views
Right now, the Department of Energy is gathering information in order to decide if the current plan for the Northern Pass transmission line is consistent with the public interest. It’s a big job and there are a lot of elements that will inform the final decision.

Rock season is still in full swing, but I start calling a few ice partners to sort out schedules. Three days, we tell each […]
P.F. Flyer and More!
It was a great weekend for ice climbing up on the “Rock Pile”. NEice team members found plenty of early season ice. Team member Courtney Ley and partner Joel Dashnaw reported thick ice on Pinnacle Gully. Courtney said “it was taking 16cm screws” and the water flow was not bad at all. Look for her photos here. Team Member Emilie […]
White Mountain Pachinko
I watched as the stuck rope slithered away from me. I suddenly felt very alone. An avid reader of history, I should have known better: don’t try to attack Russia in the wintertime, and certainly don’t rope-solo the Black Dike. Especially in November.
The Black Dike Goes Down!! 11/06/2012 – Ryan Stefiuk / Erik Eisele
We found good conditions throughout with plenty of ice on the final pitch.
