Description: Lightweight mountain axe made of a polished stainless steel head (pick & adze) with an all aluminum shaft and polished stainless steel spike. Shaft diameter is small maybe too small for some. Pick is sharp and ergonomically correct but a bit thin. Adze works well in chopping steps but profile is small. Swing weight is noticeably very lite. I used this axe on Baker and found that self-arrest and general French Technique were fine but the one or two pitches of AI 2 that we did on the North Ridge left me wanting more weight.
A bit pricey but overall the fit form and function were not bad, a 3 on a scale of 1-5.
