GrivEvol

Description: Buy it at the Mountaineer.

A new version of the crampon that is now part of the history of alpinism and which has become the “standard” for advanced performance at high altitude and on icefalls. The curved shape of the rear fits modern ice climbing boots perfectly and the base adjusts automatically to suit totally flat or slightly curved soles thanks to the SAS system (sole adjustment system) . The two front points, hot forged for the best quality possible, have been redesigned to be used in dual or mono point mode: with specific lengths and angles for both possibilities. The necessary transformation parts are included in the pack. No more need to ask: mono or dual? Both requirements can be satisfied in this model!

Pros: They get me up and down
Cons: Is that curved frame a gimmick ??

They stayed on the k3's.
Got me up and down.
What's that curved frame about??
(The older Rambo's were good without the curve.)
Will try them on the new Nepal's this year (2006)

Pros: Curved frame best fit boot, foot shape and round icicle shape.
Cons: Vertical rails collect snowballs, antibot or ductape needed on warmer days.

Waterfall ice specialist, not for Alpine as it doesn't flex. Some people really like em for mixed, but I/m not a mixxer. Excellent support on vertical ice.

Pros: Great on waterfall ice
Cons: Hard to switch to monpoint. Antibot not shaped to fit crampoon.

I love these babies. They always seem to bite well into the ice, even on brittle ice. Not too good for very candled ice but then again no dual front point really is. The antibots have a very lame attachment mechanism. It doesn't fit well with new curved version. Fairly comfortable to walk in since they have a built in rocker.

Pros: stability on steep ice
Cons: antibot shape and clips

Awesome rigid crampons. I use them in mono set up and love the performance on steep ice. Good fit on my Nepal's. The antibot is a straight version from prior Evo models and fits "OK" but not great. The antibot clips don't work very well and are a poor fit with the staight bot and curved frame. Great on the ice, not so great getting to and from the ice.
